How carnival is celebrated around the world
The theme of our club evening was an interesting and fun mix of many details about how Carnival is celebrated around the world. From the history of Carnival, tracing its origins in medieval Rome and its global spread, to the Cologne Carnival with its many fascinating facts. There was also time to celebrate with Carnival music in a great atmosphere.

Beethoven`s Symphonies
Not only did we learn a lot about Beethoven’s symphonies, their musical development, and historical context, but we also discovered many interesting, astonishing, and even amusing facts about Beethoven’s works. Csongor delivered an exciting and highly interesting lecture with music samples that will remain an impressive memory for all of us. Thank you very much, Csongor.

Advent concert
Mary, Christmas and the Magic of Love
On December 7th, our Lions Club was able to enjoy a wonderful musical Advent evening in the wine cellar of Champion Wine Vinarium. The program, “Mary, Christmas and the Magic of Love,” presented by Manuel Betancourt (bass-baritone) and Narihito Mukeda (piano), evoked many emotions. Over 30 attendees experienced a true musical delight. Happily, it is worth mentioning that a substantial amount was raised with tickets and additional donations for our charity projects. Special thanks go to Andreas for the organization and to our outstanding artists, Manuel and Narihito. Thank you! Learn more.

Lions Club evening
Overview of Electric Cars
The very informative and lively presentation explained all aspects of the use of electric cars, the technology and their advantages and disadvantages in a very clear and understandable way. Many question marks that were still present in the general understanding and assessment of electric cars were cleared up. The club evening was a very pleasant and stimulating event in good company. Many thanks to Andreas for this valuable contribution.

Film: "Koncert" by István Szabó
The black-and-white film “Koncert” (1962) by István Szabó is the graduation project of the later Oscar winner (for “Mephisto” in 1981) from the Budapest Film Academy. In slapstick style, quirky characters create new melodies from a piano on the banks of the Danube in Pest. Moderated by our Lions members Dieter and János, the participants discussed the value of humorous representation against the backdrop of a social trauma: the suppression of the Hungarian revolution of 1956. As a contemporary witness, János recalled the dark mood of those years in a presentation, and many thanks to János and Dieter for this presentation.
Our Charity Highlights
Our Lions Club supports a variety of projects through donations and voluntary commitment: locally, we help children, people in need, the homeless, and seniors. Globally, we promote educational projects, clean drinking water, and vision aid as part of the Lions organization. Our major benefit concert and Advent concert generate the necessary funds for our local aid efforts.

Lions play music for Lions and Friends
Piano Music Matinée
With numerous guests in Yina’s beautiful house and in a cozy atmosphere, our Lions Club enjoyed (not only) classical music. Csongor and his piano partner Orsolya as well as Yina and Rüdiger played pieces by various composers. Yina’s historic, 130-year-old piano shone with a wonderful sound after a thorough renovation. Yina also prepared many delicious dishes from her home country, which, together with the contributions of all the guests, put us in a great mood. We all enjoyed a wonderful time with Yina and look forward to a repeat performance next year.

Handing out in Mezőtúr
School Backpack Donation
As in many years before, our Lions Club was once again able to donate over 60 school backpacks to children in need in Mezőtúr this year. Thanks to our member Erzsi’s strong connections with the Youth Welfare Office in her hometown, we ensure that this donation reaches the truly needy children directly. It’s worth highlighting the tireless annual efforts of our members Janos and Erzsi, who organize the collection of the backpacks. Our thanks to our Lions partner clubs in Sulzbach, Berlin and Frankfurt who gather, receive, and store the backpacks until they are transported to Hungary. Further thanks to Zsuzsa and her company for the generous donation of the fillings. Learn more.

Our Club History
In 1991, together with Hungarian citizens, some of the many expats at the time founded the All Nations Lions Club to support socially disadvantaged people during a period of profound societal transformation. Through the numerous successful aid projects carried out together, a symbiosis developed between foreigners in Hungary and Hungarian locals. This relationship extended not only to social projects but also included cultural exchange.
In 2021, the All Nations Lions Club merged with the German-speaking Thomas Mann Lions Club to form the Thomas Mann All Nations Lions Club Budapest. The charitable projects of both former clubs were incorporated and continue to this day.
Today, our Lions Club sees itself as a strong and friendly community of socially committed and culturally interested global citizens.
